Electrical wiring for a residential ADU project in Portland, OR. Full service panel setup and rough-in wiring for outlets and lighting in new construction.
Wiring an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) is more involved than simply running new wires. Every connection has to support daily living spaces, and future owners might need to upgrade or adapt these systems. Bringing power to a separate unit means carefully planning circuits and panel locations to support everything from lighting to large appliances.
For this project, a new electrical service panel was installed. The crew ran wiring through open framing, setting up outlet boxes and switches for the ADU’s living spaces. The rough-in stage included connections for lighting, such as a pendant light over the bathroom vanity, as well as general power needs throughout the unit. Only labeled and properly specified components were used for clear identification and function.
Behind the walls, careful routing and securing of wires was essential to prevent damage before drywall went up. Details like accessible lock box codes allowed secure, coordinated access for everyone on site. It’s the forward planning and coordination at this stage that helps prevent headaches when final fixtures and appliances are installed later.
