Fire-Damaged Panel & Meter Replacement

Replaced a meter and panel destroyed by an electrical fire — melted breakers, charred wiring, and scorched framing — restoring safe, code-compliant power the same week.

A homeowner in Vancouver, WA lost power when an aging, overloaded panel finally gave out — the meter and panel compartment melted down, charring the wiring around it and scorching the wall framing behind. What should have been a routine panel upgrade months earlier had turned into an active fire hazard.

We coordinated an emergency disconnect with the utility, cut out the ruined panel and meter base entirely, and rebuilt the mounting surface before setting a new, code-compliant panel and meter. Every circuit was re-run, re-terminated, and tested before the home was reconnected and signed off by the inspector.

Scope of work

  • Emergency utility disconnect & fire-damage assessment
  • Removal of melted panel, meter base & damaged wiring
  • Repair of scorched wall framing behind the panel
  • New panel & meter installation with full circuit re-termination
  • Load testing, inspection & utility reconnect

A panel too far gone to safely repair

The fire had melted the breakers and meter base beyond any safe repair, and scorched the framing behind them past the point of a simple swap. We coordinated a same-day utility disconnect, rebuilt the mounting surface from scratch, and got the homeowner back on safe, inspected power in two days instead of waiting weeks for a standard upgrade slot — the kind of delay that turns a routine upgrade into exactly this.
